Chemistry of success. |
Subsequently, one of the rudimentary necessities to be
successful is to welcome success with open arms. Often “too spiritual people”
have negative thoughts about success and money. I had this notion when I was in
Sunday school. There are many people who think, “Money is not good, money is the source of all evil” and spiritual
people are not supposed to be prosperous. In African context someone who is
wealthy is said to be successful. Andrew Carnegie observed “Wealth is not to feed our egos, but to feed the hungry and
to help people help themselves.” Contemplate about this, if money is in the
hands of the spiritual people, wouldn’t they help more people in lack? Wouldn’t
they give more money to donations, which removes poverty from the world? And
wouldn’t they fund many philanthropic projects that can benefit the whole
world? Religiousness and Success are like the two wings of a bird. We
need both to fly.”

Often absence of money is the source of evil. “The highest use of capital is not to make
more money but to make money do more for the betterment of life.” Henry
Ford. So the first step to get more successful is to remove “failure consciousness” and all negative
thoughts and beliefs about success and prosperity and then move on following
the below:
1. Stop Stealing
Stealing spawns the destructive aura of poverty. Stop
stealing physically, emotionally and even psychologically. Essentially we are
not supposed to take things that do not belong to us. Stealing money is a very
recognizable type of stealing and consequently normally easy to practice by
many, but also watch out for piracy, misusing office resources, coveting
someone’s spouse and the tribute that is meant for others. It is said that “cheats never prosper.” In actual fact
jealous judgments and feelings are also a form of stealing as they create
sticky thought forms that go and stick to the person’s impression, pulling
him/her down. Master Choa Kok Sui observed
“An inability to feel happy when other people are successful will pull you
down. Avoid enviousness.”
Be on the lookout for all these behavioral patterns. In
addition try to be on time in paying your arrears. If you run a business also
try to pay your employees well and in time. If you have expenditures to resolve
and fees to pay, make them on time. If you adjourn paying other people and you
pay a lesser amount of what you need to pay, money will come back to you with
delay and less than expected. In fact underpaying staff is also a practice of
stealing.
2. Tithe, Save and Invest.
Saving is what many people rarely do. Failing to save can
really make a wealthy person go bankrupt. It is said that, “The art is not in making money, but in keeping it.” From your
earnings it is advisable to save at least 10%. You may progressively increase
your monthly saving to 30% after you paid all your obligations. In spite of
everything a penny saved, is a penny
earned! You can open a separate bank account for your savings to help you
save better and avoid using your saved money; otherwise there is a tendency to
spend your savings in times of difficulty.
“Put your financial life on autopilot as a form of ‘forced’ saving.” Suze
Orman.

By putting into practice the art of giving and tithing,
within a short time you begin seeing money flowing to you like a flooded river.
The mistake of most people make is buying expensive things on credit, which
leaves them with plenty of monthly debts. Some even go to the extent of buying
petty luxurious like dress on fashion through loans.
A good example is the time I was an intern in a certain firm. Young men and women could take loans for petty transactions like buying the cell phone in fashion. There was a case where one of the employees saw my cell phone and she said with admiration how can a mere student like you have this expensive phone while I use a “kabambe”? She went on and took a loan to buy a phone without knowing the source of my “expensive” phone. This may affect their tithing and saving capacity. When tithing is compromised, your income reduces gradually. What follow here will be less income and more debts. Watch out. Don’t fall into this trap. Be realistic to yourself. Think, analyze and then spend money.

In addition saved money is also recommended to be invested
in the right venture. Investment provides more opportunities to gain more, but
try to maintain plenty of liquidity at all times. Have you ever heard people
say “the poor usually get poorer and the
rich get richer?” If you invest in the right business at the right time and
at the right place, more money comes back to you. But then again before you
invest to make profit, assess the risks and make a right decision. Think about
the worst circumstances. If something goes off beam, can you handle the risks?
If you desire to begin your own business calculate your expenses and the
profit. One of the common teething troubles in business is the incapacity to
calculate the profit and expenses so sometimes the expenses tend to overpass
the profit.
3. Create success consciousness.
Success consciousness is basically what helps you attract
prosperity. In order to succeed we need to change our attitude towards success.
If you think you cannot succeed or you do not deserve to be successful you need
to work on this aspect. If you think having lots of money will affect your
character and you are afraid of getting rich, you have poverty consciousness.
Unfortunately these kinds of attitudes and beliefs are more seen among
“spiritual people” as there is an old belief that “prosperity and spirituality does not come together.”
Above and beyond altering our thinking pattern, we also need
to enhance our look. It is not an issue of putting on expensive garments and
accouterments but to project a successful look. Salad dressing, being neat and
clean helps us to appear more presentable to others and to ourselves. It also
boosts our self-esteem. Using positive declarations can supplementary help us
to create success consciousness. You may say it once and again on a day to day
basis: “I am successful, prosperous and cheerful, success flows to me like a river, money rains on me
like a waterfall, money comes to me easily and abundantly, so be it!
Try this and see how you change your achievement capacity
and successful state in a matter of a short period. These stages are not
recorded by one person or one nation, most of spiritual teachers and successful
leaders were reciting them over and over again time after time. So they work.
The bottom line is just exercise and don’t give up until you see the results.
