HIV prevalence rates at Kenyan universities is at worrying trend according to latest statistics. Aids researchers in Kenya say university students are among the high-risk groups, which include teenage girls, long-distance truck drivers, commercial s3x workers, the military and the police. There is strong evidence that infection among university students could continue to rise before it peaks.Studies reveal that in urban areas about 30 per cent of teenage girls aged 15-19 are HIV positive.

According to Reports. Figures from the local World Health Organisation reference centre on HIV/Aids indicate that 30 per cent of Kenyan students seeking admission to foreign universities are infected. Here is the ranking of the universities in Kenya with highest HIV prevalence rates.

1. University of Nairobi(UON)- HIV prevalence of 15 percent.

2. Kenyatta university – HIV prevalence of 13 percent

3. Egerton university – HIV prevalence of 11 percent

4. Kisii university – HIV prevalence of 10 percent

In the private universites,

MKU recorded highest with 10 prevalence infection rates while Strathmore university recorded lowest with 2 percent HIV prevalence, arguably the lowest in Kenyan universities.

For most university students, this information is not too surprising; given the lifestyles they see their colleagues living. According to Mary, a business administration student from UoN, ‘sponsor’ relationships play a role in exposing students to the virus.

AIDS IS REAL, PROTECT YOURSELF.

We all know it as success, usually associated with wealth and class that everyone wants to be part of it. In universities; it can be achieved at the ‘comfort of our beds’ to some ladies. A good number of these ladies joined the university “untouched’ and now far away from home, things have really changed. Their bodies substitute the brain when it comes to succeeding.

One can argue – and I totally agree – that circumstances can be a force towards this. Some lectures go to an extent of denying you the good grades that you deserve, just because he showed some interest and you never responded his way. By this, your grades move from bad to worst each semester, you try to seek help from relevant authorities but oops, the guy has money to defend himself. In the end, you give in in order to get what you deserve. This is not a good solution though.

There is this other type of campus lady who is too lazy to attend classes and even exams. All she can do now is trade her body for ‘good grades’, a very unrefined action. At the end of the day, you can fight the fact that you are half-baked but your day of reckoning is coming, that time you tarmac for jobs but you won’t get even near one. You know why? God will be punishing you for having an affair with your ‘grandpa’.

Before you decide to have an affair with these old papas, just bear in mind that they are family men and you the one who’s getting wasted.

My fellow beautiful ladies, your success doesn’t lie on your private parts but you can achieve it through hard work and determination. Let the two be your motto. Never will success be earned through sex it’s high time to tell us the truth.

Abortion is murder.
Invention of social media must be one of the greatest inventions of the world that have boomed and nearly a cut above all the other technological advancements. Evenings spent around social media sites are always a welcome to crazy stories often than ever that were talked of, happened, thought of, resolved to all  during the day. My busy day full of hustles rested me on tweets that got me compelled to look into. Therein, was a point of contention: should women be left with the choice of whether to or not abort or go for family planning?

Abortion amounts to murder just in case some heartless dimwits here didn't know- knowledge for free. The decision on whether to or not terminate the unborn life is as hard as taking a journey to hell and back for every sane person. Accepting that you got notched in the way of having fun doesn't come easy but either way, you were in for the game. So no point justifies a termination.

In that so called fun also, were two of you, so deciding on what to do with the baby should make sense handled in the very duo. And by the way, the eventuality is always, I want to grow up to be a mum, dad and all that, so the baby walking its way early ain't no breach of the wish, just keeping you a step ahead of your fellow comrades hehe.

Abortion originally was an illegal, immoral, unheard of, unethical act that was an abomination therefore  any case of the sort led to severe punishments like being sent away from society or even not getting married after all. Anyway who in their right mind would like to marry a woman who felt it right murdering?

I admire the then society, it was all spilt and built with moral and norms that guided daily lives. No misbehaviors were treated as cordially as understanding and mercy would do. Let our grannies live long. They were an epitome of a good deal morals. This is part of the many things our cultures taught us and that should never for a moment slip off our minds.
But now that our modern day is evolving into a magnet to every ill, we have cake crumbs to do. Just live condemning and watching out for our own steps.

For that case of whose responsibility it should be making these breath taking choice, I would make the abortion thought a gone idea and think of how now things will work thereafter. Abortions are not always the ultimate option after all. Get up women, kids are not a curse, perhaps counting yourself lucky to have proved your fertility early should be the path to think in.

Let the abortion mentality be a thing of the past, a thing of the ignorant guessing that none of us in this 21st century could be as ignorant.

Over the weekend I read a piece and someone was arguing that behind every great fortune lies a great crime. What crossed my mind is the several corruption scandals in the country. It reminded me of an expose that John Allan Namu did on KTN last night dubbed “Kanjo Kingdom.”

Police officers illegally milk a fortune from traders and hawkers. John Allan Namu further broke down the figures by saying that the amount of money Kanjo Kingdom acollects in bribes is enough to pay school fees for 811,000 students for 1 year. They make quite a fortune. And this is just free money. It feels like someone earns 10 bob and pays a bribe of 12 bob. A hardworking Kenyan has to pay the price.
Lately it feels that everyone is just out to make money. Integrity is not as paramount as such. People get into public office and despite the fact that they are paid so well, they loot millions. It totally pisses me off that tax payers money is being misused. We thought devolution was going to be the ultimate game changer but it feels like it is our downfall. Looks like most importantly corruption was devolved.
If millions of money were not being looted, the standards of living would be better. What would be the situation if money set aside would be used for a constructive purpose? Some legislators act like the money belongs to them. Hello, that is taxpayers money.
Okay. Its Monday. I don't want to be angry and bitter at the beginning of the week. Enjoy your week people. God bless.
