About Kenyatta University


Kenyatta University is a public research university with its main campus in both Nairobi County and Kiambu County, Kenya. It acquired the status of university in 1985, being the third university after University of Nairobi and Moi University. As of October 2014, it was one of 23 public universities in the country.

Notable Alumni

The following individuals are some of the "prominent alumni" at the Kenyatta University website:
  • Mwai Kibaki - former President of Kenya, 2002 to 2013. He graduated with a Doctor of Education degree.
  • Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka - former Vice President of Kenya. Honoured with a Doctorate in Humane Letters (honoris causa) in recognition of his achievements in peace making, conflict resolution efforts, sustainable community development. 
  • Jakaya Kikwete - President of the United Republic of Tanzania, 2005 to 2015. In 2008 he gained a Doctor of Humane Letters degree in Kenyatta Uni. 
  • Daniel arap Moi - former President of Kenya, 1978 to 2002. Got his education at Kenyatta University.
  • Benjamin Mkapa - former President of Tanzania, 1995 to 2005. He graduated from Kenyatta Uni with a Doctor of Education degree. Dr. Geoffrey William Griffin - founder Director of Starehe Boys' Centre and School. Griffin was awarded an honorary Ph.D. in Education by Kenyatta University for developing Starehe Boys' Centre and School .
  • Dr. James Mwangi - Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Equity Bank Group. Holds a Doctor of Humane Letters from Kenyatta University
Location of the Main Campus

The main campus of Kenyatta University is at Kahawa, Nairobi County in Kasarani Constituency, approximately 18 kilometres (11 mi), by road, northeast of the central business district of Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya, off of the Nairobi-Thika Road.

The Campus is set on over 1,000 acres with a pleasant and serene surrounding conducive to academic and intellectual growth.

How to download your KUCCPS Admission Letter

  1. Go to https://admissionletters.ku.ac.ke/kuccps.php
  2. Enter your KCSE Index number and click Log in. Type it in the format XXXXXXXXXX/2019 where XXXXXXXXXX is the index number and 2019 is your KCSE year
  3. Click the Login button to proceed
  4. Navigate to the Admission Letter section to download and print your admission letter.
